sep|tum «SEHP tuhm», noun, plural -ta.
a dividing wall, as of membrane, bone, or cartilage; partition. There is a septum of bone and cartilage between the nostrils. The ventricles of the heart are separated by a septum. The inside of a green pepper is divided into chambers by septa.
